Sopi Hybrid Park 4×100 MVA 330 kV power transformer
Sopi hybrid park, Läänemaa, Estonia

At Sopi hybrid park in Läänemaa, four 100 MVA power transformers were supplied and installed with 330 kV connections, ensuring wind and solar energy production units' grid connection to the Estonian main grid. This is one of the largest renewable energy production park grid connection projects in Estonia.

The Sopi hybrid park in Läänemaa combines wind and solar energy production facilities into a single integrated complex requiring a high-capacity connection directly to the 330 kV main grid. Four 100 MVA transformers ensure the park's full power transmission capacity with reserve, accounting for both production variability and potential maintenance shutdowns. Each transformer serves an independent production section, increasing system reliability through fault mode independence.

The project's complexity lay in the coordinated installation of four units in parallel on a limited land area. The entire 330 kV infrastructure, including bus connections, protection relay systems, and automation, was designed from scratch in accordance with Elering AS requirements. After a thorough testing period, the park was connected to the grid and began exporting renewable energy to the Estonian power system.
