Balti 200 MVA 330/110/22 kV power transformer
Balti substation, Estonia

A 200 MVA three-winding power transformer (330/110/22 kV) was supplied and installed at Balti substation to increase Estonia's main grid transmission capacity. This is one of the largest units installed at Balti substation, serving both the 110 kV medium-voltage network and the local 22 kV distribution.

Balti substation holds a key position in Estonian energy, connecting both the main grid's 330 kV transmission lines and the regional 110 kV network. Installation of the new 200 MVA power transformer enables a significant increase in the region's electricity transmission capacity and meets the growing consumer load. The three-winding design provides flexibility in distributing energy flows between different voltage levels.

The project involved extensive preparatory work — foundation renovation, oil system installation, and primary bus connections. Transformer transport required special transport and prior coordination of road load assessments. Primary connection and protection and measurement system setup were completed after thorough calibration and testing.
